The colors of the flags symbolize the 5 elements and the 5 Dhyani Buddhas (Vairocana, Akshobhya, Ratnasambhava, Amithaba and Amogasiddhi), which symbolize the inner and outer feminine and masculine energies in their purest form. Blue stands for heaven, white for air, red for fire, green for water and yellow for the earth.
The Tibetan prayer flag can be hung indoors or outdoors. As the flags flutter in the wind, the positive energy of the images and mantras is spread through the air in all directions. The Tibetans believe that when fluttering in the wind, the mantras ascend to the Gods, bringing prosperity to the pendant, his family, friends and acquaintances.
